It’s Unfuzzy

For those young in their Christian walks, learning how to grow in God’s principles may seem overwhelming. These four unsophisticated and elementary yet vital guidelines will assist you to build your spiritual foundation.

Acts 2:42 (NIV) tells us, “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” The early believers also followed this proven track and found it very beneficial. Consider in what way they will also benefit you:

Teaching‒‟They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching.” This teaching through the disciples embraced all that Jesus himself taught, especially in the gospels, His death, His burial, and His resurrection. Today we have the books of the New Testament. Find good teachers for yourself and your family who know the Word and can explain its content. As you read the Word on your own you can ask the Holy Spirit to open your mind to its God- inspired values. This way you will learn how to apply God’s Word to your everyday life. Your spiritual food is the Word. Love studying its content.
Fellowship‒includes gathering to worship God. Where two or three are gathered in His name, the spirit of God is there. It also embraces times of interaction with believers, encouragement and testifying of God’s protection as His body ministers’ one to another. Don’t underestimate these opportunities. We need one another more than what we think we do.
Communion‒“breaking of bread” could mean a time when all gather to “do this in remembrance of me,” or what is called the Lord’s Supper. Communion could also mean an ordinary meal that believers enjoyed and shared together.
Prayer‒The book of Acts shows the significance of prayer for the believer. Christ’s death opened up instant messaging long before this generation ever knew it existed. Through prayer we have direct access to our Heavenly Father. The early church quickly found that through prayer thousands were saved and multitudes were healed. If you want your life to be more than mediocre, read Acts repeatedly to understand its importance for you. God is still the same today. Prayer is only a breath away. For your sake, use it often.

These are four unfuzzy fundamentals, the simple, unsophisticated but powerful principles that establish the groundwork for spiritual growth by leaps and bounds. Don’t let the busyness of your life-style and the whirlwind of activities hinder that growth. This is just the beginning for you‒there is so much more.
