Ways We Hear From God

You might ask, “Can you really hear from God?” Yes! He loves to connect with those who desire to communicate with Him. Hearing from God gives your Christian walk depth and direction, and through your walk understanding of Him. He gives joy both during hard times and better times. You definitely will want all there is available.

If you want to hear from God here are some helpful understandings:

Scripture says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me…Call unto me, and I will answer you and will show you great and mighty things, which you do not know” (John 10:27, NIV). To actually be able to communicate with God makes me stand in awe.

Accept Him. If you have asked forgiveness from Him you are on the right path. A child will always hear the voice of his father. Ask God to open your understanding.

Give attention to His Word‒God says nothing outside His Word. Knowing His Word then enables you to know when He is, or is not speaking to you. It has to be according to what His Word [the Bible] has to say; we receive most of our direction through God’s Word.

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. God is a Spirit and relates to us through our spirit. You will easily hear God’s Spirit when you are sensitive to His voice. Carefully take note of your quiet time with Him and His Word. This is your time when you center your mind on Him and the words dropped in your mind and heart. He wants to speak wonderful thoughts into your heart. You will not want to neglect this special communication time.

Pray with your whole spirit connected – This prepares your spirit to receive any word from God. It protects you from deceit and dangers set by our arch enemy. Put all these helps ready in your arsenal store house.

Exercise patience‒God is the Almighty. No one dictates to Him. When you are seeking to hear from Him on any issue, don’t be in a hurry. He does not reply to cellphone messages. He may answer quickly or have a reason to delay. He definitely will speak in His own timing, so keep your heart prepared for Him.
